Mr. Barbeau has extensive experience in the reorganization of distressed companies as an interim crisis manager, advisor and investor. His leadership and expertise has helped companies manage complex initiatives, make dramatic improvements and achieve long-term profitability. Some recent engagements include:
- CEO of a manufacturer of automotive accessory products, COO of an international auction firm regarded as the premier investment-grade coin gallery and advisor to a manufacturer of specialty refrigerated dips
- CEO for a video systems integrator for the broadcast industry, COO of a manufacturer of hardware and automotive products and interim manager and advisor to a large regional distributor of propane
- Consultant providing cash management and strategic planning for a $4 billion diversified company in the distribution and construction industries, and finance and operations manager for a $600 million manufacturer of personal computers in Chapter 11
- Advisor for a $150 million consumer products company undergoing an operational and financial reorganization and advisor to a $75 million (sales) internet retailer during its operational restructuring
Some of his corporate finance and M&A transactions include the sale of a $150 million window manufacturing division of a Chapter 11 client, refinancing senior debt for a $300 million temporary staffing company and the sales of several companies through Chapter 11 proceedings. Additionally, he is an investor for his own account and an advisor for financial partners and clients. In 1998 one of his investments was named one of the top turnaround investments of the year by Turnarounds & Workouts .
Earlier in his career Mr. Barbeau and a partner acquired and consolidated five manufacturers of products for the oilfield and petrochemical industries. He began his career as a product manager for a division of International Jensen.
Mr. Barbeau has an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis and a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri. He is a frequent speaker and panelist on the subject of distressed companies and has served on the boards of several companies.
