Larry S. Field, Managing Director

Larry Field has an extensive background in managing and designing transportation programs for clients' inbound and outbound freight requirements, and is particularly successful at generating significant freight and distribution cost reductions for clients. He has over 35 years experience in the areas of:

  • Freight management
  • Retail transportation
  • Distribution center design
  • Manufacturing processes

Mr. Field is widely experienced in assisting companies with the design and implementation of outbound delivery and inbound vendor routing programs that provide checks for compliance, carrier pricing and operating information. In particular, he is highly skilled at implementing management reporting systems that allow for timely analysis and reporting of costs and status of shipping results.

Select engagements to which Mr. Field has brought his wide-ranging expertise includes roles as:

  • Developed and implemented a comprehensive freight improvement program at $250 million international distributor of aftermarket motorcycle parts and accessories that resulted in an annual cost savings in excess of $3 million.
  • Interim and permanent VP of Operations of a $200 million transportation and logistics firm.
  • Turnaround advisor for a $150 million brokerage operation of a farm cooperative, developing freight and logistic cost reductions and renegotiating all transportation leases.
  • Chief Operating Officer providing financial expertise to a $1.6 billion international freight forwarder, where he negotiated both domestic and international rates for all transportation modes.

Mr. Field’s background includes reengineering of clients’ transportation methods to focus on improving profits and efficiency. Part of this reengineering is the analysis of the distribution center processes and site selection. Mr. Field develops operational and administrative relationships with major truck, rail, and air carriers, as well as international forwarders, steamship operators, and third party providers.

Mr. Field has been a professor at Northeastern University and Florida International University. He holds a BS degree in Industrial Engineering and has completed MBA studies in Finance and Accounting.
