Mr. Turpin’s cross-functional experience in operations and finance provides him with the ability to assess and implement strategic business decisions. He is an effective, results-oriented leader with exceptional analytical and communication skills and has held positions such as COO, Vice President of Operations and Finance and General Manager.
A few select engagements include:
- Interim VP of Operations for a $100 million manufacturer of FDA compliant medical devices, where he quickly stabilized operations through the establishment of cross-functional teams and detailed action plans, led the successful launch of a new, leading edge product, overcoming extensive delays as well as reducing inventory by 29% and reducing open vendor purchase orders by 50% while implementing $2.5 million of supplier cost savings
- Stabilized operations for a $100 million distributor and fabricator of custom commercial and residential stone products, identified $6.3 million of EBITDA improvement, led an organizational restructuring and implemented changes in materials purchasing, logistics and inventory management
- Interim COO during the integration of 3 construction site development companies, totaling $230 million in sales, where he headed the integration teams across all disciplines, identified best practices and implemented consolidation synergies which resulted in a new, consolidated organization and $7 million of integration savings realized
- Initiated cost improvement programs for a division of a $350 million manufacturer of military products, where he developed initiatives that improved EBITDA from negative 22% to positive 2% through a major outsourcing program, facilities consolidation, 38% inventory reduction and 27% reduction in materials cost
- Instituted lean manufacturing programs for a manufacturer of electronic instrumentation and control systems, where he implemented the Kanban method in a JIT environment to drastically reduce lead times and developed quality programs that reduced final inspection rejection rates from 9% to 0.1%
Mr. Turpin holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He also holds an MBA from Wake Forest University.
