Justin Doheny is a veteran of more than 25 years of senior management experience in the healthcare industry, primarily with hospitals. His expertise in the healthcare industry includes strategic planning, achieving accreditations, improving productivity and profitability, reducing length of stay, establishing efficient management and reporting systems, governance and establishing compliance programs.
Mr. Doheny’s notable experience includes, but is not limited to, the following roles:
- Chief Operating Officer for a start-up international nursing placement company, negotiating contracts with 27 hospitals across the US for the employment of RN’s, he also oversaw the company’s office in Manila, Philippines.
- Board Consultant to a County Improvement Authority in regards to the management of a 1000 bed hospital and nursing home, owned by the Authority and managed by a for-profit contractor.
- Interim CEO for troubled Fort Worth teaching hospital and health system, where he renegotiated bond covenants, reorganized hospital operating units while improving profitability by reducing operating losses by $15,000,000 during initial year and improved productivity to where the hospital was consistently operating at 4.1 FTE per AOB
- Executive VP and COO for a 400 bed New Jersey hospital, where he improved profitability from a $4,500,000 loss to a gain, recruited the new CFO, VP Patient Care Services and VP Human Resources, achieved JCAHO accreditation with commendation, established initial Corporate Compliance Program and served as Corp. Compliance Officer, increased professional fee collections to $1,400,000, developed the IT plan and Facility Master Plan and completed $11 million in construction and renovation projects including Emergency Department, Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Pediatric Enhanced Care Unit
- President and CEO for a New Jersey community hospital, where he led Board of Trustees through a strategic planning and evaluation process, increased managed care to 21% of admissions through negotiation of new contracts, reduced length of stay by 23%, established management and reporting systems, improving productivity 6%, completed $23 million in construction and renovation plans on time and within budget, achieved JCAHO accreditation with commendation, established Hospital Foundation and grew its assets to $3.5 million, organized a Statewide “Any Willing Provider” Coalition and established programs in Geriatrics, Minimally Invasive Surgery, Physician Liaison, Adult Day Health Care, and expanded programs in Mental Health, Management Information Systems and Occupational Medicine
Mr. Doheny received his bachelor’s degree from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts and his master’s degree in Hospital and Health Care Administration from the University of Minnesota.
