As an executive and consultant, Brandon Smith has more than 10 years of experience advising companies in areas such as financial reporting, financial and operational restructuring, buy- and sell-side due diligence, short- and long-term financial forecasting, structuring capital structures and covenants and bankruptcies. His industry experience includes industrials, oil and gas, retail and services.
Selected recent engagements include:
- Officer of a $300 million retail company during Chapter 11, liquidated unprofitable operations and improved the financial reporting process
- Advisor to a $2 billion metals processing firm during Chapter 11, where he advised the company regarding operational improvements, asset divestitures and ultimately the formulation of the plan of reorganization, which provided for a potential recovery to equity holders in the form of warrants
- CFO of a $70 million services firm, where he performed due diligence and negotiated the terms of multiple acquisitions totaling over $20 million, resulting in incremental EBITDA of over $4.5 million by Year Two
- Advisor to a $300 million oilfield service firm, where he negotiated terms with multiple secured lenders/lending groups, resulting in a successful out-of-court refinancing of over $155 million of debt
- Advisor to a $270 million division of a United Kingdom-based services firm, where he helped design the financial reporting system to provide more relevant and timely information to management
Mr. Smith holds a bachelor's degree in accounting with honors from Louisiana State University and an MBA from Rice University. He is a Certified Public Accountant, a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor and a member of the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Accountants and the Turnaround Management Association.
